I am a lifelong resident of Walker County. I attended the Carbon
Hill public school system, graduating in 1991. During my junior
year of high school I enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the delayed
entry program and went on active duty two weeks after
graduation. I served as a hospital corpsman in the Navy for 4 1/2
years receiving an honorable discharge. I then returned home to
Carbon Hill where I worked for several local radio and television
stations before making the decision to return to school to become
a radiologic and CT technologist. I currently work as a CT and
Radiologic technologist. When I made the decision that I would
run in the 2008 election, I took on a second full time job to help
fund getting my campaign off of the ground. This in itself is a
testament to how committed I am to winning this election and
serving the citizens of this great state.

In my opinion, many politicians have lost sight of what service in
an elected office actually is--a service to the people. Many treat it
as if they are above or better than the very people who gave
them the opportunity and privilege to serve.  Many have become
distanced from the everyday issues that face us and in this way
have become disconnected with the views of the very people that
they represent. I feel that the citizens of our district aren't being
adequately represented and I would like to be able to change
that, to be able to listen to each of you and put your thoughts
and ideas into effect.

I am an average everyday Alabamian. I get up and go to work
everyday. I can directly relate to the needs and concerns of our
district and unlike many other politicians who you only hear from
at election time when they need your vote, I will remain active in
our communities to ensure that I am thoroughly addressing the
issues and concerns that face each of us on a daily basis. I will
be the most visible, most accessible congressman that this
district has ever elected. I will work tirelessly for this district and
represent it with the dignity and class that it deserves.

Among the many issues that I believe to be important, I will fight
for our military and veterans. I will fight for our senior citizens,
their healthcare and retirement, for Alabama workers to defeat
"free trade" deals that continue to send jobs and businesses out
of our state and country, for quality, affordable healthcare for
everyone, and for the education of our children so they have a
bright future to look forward to.

I am asking for your help and support. I would love the honor and
opportunity of serving you as your representative to Congress,
but I cannot do this without you. With your help and that of your
coworkers, family and friends through District 4, we will be
successful.
