Healthcare
Our country is one of the wealthiest nations in the world. Yet more than 47 million Americans
have no health insurance. Even those with insurance are facing problems either concerned with
losing their insurance or increasing costs. Too many hardworking Americans cannot afford their
medical bills and because of this, health related issues are becoming the number one cause for
personal bankruptcy.
Having worked in healthcare for many years, I see and know just how important it is for everyone
to have affordable healthcare. From the struggling single parent who has to work two jobs just to
keep food on the table for their children to the elderly man or woman who has to choose between
filling their prescriptions or buying food and paying utilities because they are on a fixed income.
As one of the wealthiest nations in the world, we need to do everything possible to ensure that
every person here has access to affordable healthcare. No one should ever have to choose
between taking their child to the doctor and paying the rent. We need to fix our prescription drug
program, fix Medicare Part D and ensure that everyone can afford their prescription drugs.
Healthcare is an essential part of life. Everyone, not just the privileged few, deserves to have
affordable healthcare and the highest quality healthcare that is provided. Healthcare is not a
luxury. It is a necessity.
If I am elected, I will be a strong advocate for healthcare coverage for the citizens of our district
without causing undue hardships for both small and large business owners.
